Valle de
Angeles, has
become a weekend escape for most of Tegucigalpa
residents. It's only a half hour away and the
highway connecting it to the capital has made it
popular with tourist as well. Valle de Angeles is
a quiet place except during the weekends. The town
has an arts and crafts display area, with several
large halls. A large selection of Honduran made
handicrafts. One of the premier manufacturers of
fine leather products in Honduras, Lesanddra
Leather has its factory and an outlet store here.
Their product is of export quality at only a
fraction of what it would cost abroad. Great day
trip for a relaxing lunch an sightseeing.

Santa Lucia, is just a short distance
from Valle de Angeles, a charming old Spanish mining
town built on a hillside. Cobblestone lanes and
walkways wind around the hillside, leading to small
colonial-style homes and businesses. The main plaza,
with its fountain and landscaped garden is a nice
place to enjoy a cool drink. On most weekends, Santa
Lucia's restaurants, artesian shops, and viveros
(nurseries) fill up with day trippers from the
Tegucigalpa. Like Valle de Angeles if you come on a
weekday, it's a sleepy little village tha's fun to
poke around in (except on Mondays, when it's
downright comatose).
